Mikelangelo is one of the true originals in the Australian music scene, blazing his own path and pursuing his creative spirit wherever it may lead. The constant is the quality of his songs, his powerful delivery, his effortless showmanship and his unmistakable voice. With 12 albums and 25 years of international touring under his belt, from solo performances to his group of 16 years The Black Sea Gentlemen, to his latest rock band Spectres Of Love; Mikelangelo has packed houses and received critical acclaim from Melbourne to Montreal, Darwin to Dublin, New York to Budapest to London and beyond. In Australia, he has played numerous times at Sydney Festival, Melbourne Festival, Brisbane Festival, Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Mona Foma, Vivid Live, and has sold out his own headline shows at the Sydney Opera House and the Melbourne Arts Centre. Internationally, he has toured with great success to the UK, Europe, New Zealand, Canada and North America, with assistance from the Australia Council. He has also received funding for his projects from Arts NSW, Arts ACT, Arts Tasmania and Creative Victoria. He has won best performer and best original music at the Green Room awards and at Edinburgh and Brighton Fringe festivals, and was nominated for best Male artist at the Age Music Victoria awards and for a Helpmann award for his original score for the Kate Mulvany play ‘Masquerade’.
