Black Sea Gentlemen at the Dunedin Arts Festival

Back by popular demand, the Festival is thrilled to bring you Mikelangelo and The Black Sea Gentlemen who in 2008 left Dunedin audiences breathless with their intoxicating Kabaret Noir.

Internationally acclaimed, Mikelangelo and The Black Sea Gentlemen continue to enthrall audiences with packed houses from Budapest to the Sydney Opera House, winning multiple awards and leaving their die hard international fan base swooning in the aisles.

These master storytellers and melody makers take the old world of waltzes, polkas and mazurkas and crash headlong into the new world of swing, rhythm’n’blues and rock’n’roll for their own distinctive sound and wonderfully theatrical show.

In concert Mikelangelo commands the stage with his thunderous baritone voice. He is part ringmaster, part-crooner, part beast-possessed. The Black Sea Gentlemen are his formidable musical ensemble featuring Rufino the Catalan Cassanova on violin, The Great Muldovio on clarinet, Guido Libido on piano accordion and Little Ivan on double bass. Together they stampede their way through a show bristling with humour, pathos and beauty.

Mikelangelo transforms the Kavanagh Auditorium into an Eastern European Kabaret for two wonderful nights.
